Becoming Visible nominated as a finalist for the 2018 IndieFEST Film Awards Humanitarian Award.

IndieFEST HUMANITARIAN AWARD

The goal of the Humanitarian Award is to honor filmmakers who are bringing awareness to issues of Ecological, Political, Social Justice, Health and Wellness, Animals, Wildlife, Conservation and Spiritual importance combined with quality film making expertise.

Each year IndieFEST bestows a Humanitarian Award to a deserving filmmaker who is committed to making a difference in the world.  IndieFEST honors filmmakers who have created outstanding films that fulfill the goals of this prestigious award – and who demonstrate strong filmmaking craft.

This is not an award that can be submitted for.  Rather – these selections are hand picked by the staff and judges that are judging the films  received throughout the year. Of the hundreds of films that are screened that may have a qualifying topic – only those that are nominated by the judges go on to be considered for the Humanitarian Award. We feel very strongly in supporting filmmakers that are using their talents and passion to make a positive difference in the world

WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF FILM TO CHANGE OUR WORLD.

Impact – Impactful films are instrumental in opening minds, changing hearts and inspiring audiences to make a difference for the world’s most pressing problems.
Change – Films change attitudes and beliefs, heighten sensitivity and bring about individual and social change. Often they are someone’s first exposure to a particular topic, raising the awareness that something needs to be done.
Influence – As such, we believe that filmmakers are as important to meaningful change as policy makers, organizations, fund raisers and issue leaders.
